August was when the initial heats for this year’s Irish Greyhound Derby began, and as you would expect the number of runners has been whittled down, and as so too has the odds attached to each of the greyhounds left in that major Irish greyhound race.
The final of the Irish Greyhound Derby will be run over at Shelbourne Park as usual on the 21st of September, however for those of you that are interested in betting on any of the greyhounds that are still involved in it, then Coral is the betting site that I would advise you to bet at.
I say that are they are offerings some decent ante post win odds on each of the greyhounds, but they do also have some fair each-way betting terms too, and by placing an each-way bet right now you will get a quarter of the win odds paid to four places.
With that in mind below you are going to find the greyhounds that are currently being backed and several that are not too, and as you will discover dependent on just which one you rate the chances of, there is some excellent betting value on offer if you are quick.
First and Second Favourites
There has already been plenty of support for Magical Bale and the best odds I have seen being differed a week or two ago were around the 8/1 mark, right now you are going to be offered odd of 11/2 and there is still plenty of value to be had by backing the current favourite it does have to be said.
However, that greyhound may not have things it own way in the least heats and the final race if it does get through to the final, for there said very good chance that Lenson Bocko who has been backed down from 14/1 to odds of just 6/1 will give it a good run for its money.
Other Greyhounds being Backed
There are several other greyhounds that are being backed right now and they include Killmacdonagh who is around the 7/1 mark, and then you have Grangeview Ten who looks a very fair each-way bet at its current odds of 8/1.
Lenson Blinder so also currently trading at odds of 8/1, however you will then start to get offered double digit odds at least one any of the other runners and some worth backing each-way if you do fancy placing such a bet include Ballymac Cooper and Run Happy who are both 10/1.
As for the rest of the field, well anything is of course possible in the Irish Greyhound Derby as history has very clearly shown, and some greyhounds that may be with having a small bet on and possibly an each-way bet on include the 12/1 shots those being Mucky Brae and Slippy Cian.
I would advise you to shop around if you want to back any of the other runners in this event, as by doing so you are going to be able to locate a bookie that is offering above average odds on the remainder of the field.
