It won’t be very long before the final race is run as part of this year’s long awaited Irish Greyhound Derby, but long before the final race is staged, the heats all have to be staged, and as somebody who does fancy betting on any of the greyhounds to win the Derby outright, you need to be placing your bets sooner rather than later.
As far as the best betting site to place such a bet at, it is Betfred who are renowned for going that little bit extra but the enhanced odds they do tend to offer on their ante post betting markets, so read on to find out where the smart money is going on this major greyhound racing event!
It will probably be the case that if you are planning on betting on a handful of greyhounds that make up this event, you will be most interested to discover which are the three most fancied and most backed greyhounds.
Therefore the three greyhounds that are currently the first, second and third favourites are Droopys Verve at 8/1, Lenson Blinder at 9/1 and Slippy Cian at 12/1, but remember their odds are not going to stay as high as they are right now if they make it through their initial set of heats!
High Odds on Each-Way Bets
Betfred will give you some of the best each-way terms on the Irish Greyhound Derby, for they are paying out to 6 places and offer one quarter of the outright winning odds on such bets too, and at 16/1 are three greyhounds worth an each-way punt are Droopys Davy, Magical Bale and Borna Gin.
There is certainly some value to be had when backing the likes of Jaytee Taylor, Skywalker Logan, Cash Is King and Whoops Jack at 25/1, but those odds may not be around for very long, much more so if they get through their initial heats in the event.
An Outsider May Just Win
I would never discount the chances of any of the outsiders to win the Irish Greyhound Derby, however it will probably be the case it won’t be one of the rank outsiders that will win but one of those located in the middle section of the betting markets!
As such there will be plenty of value if you are [prepared to study the form of some of those outsiders, and a few that spring to mind based on their track skills include greyhounds such as Cabra Hurricane at 28/1, Rockybay Foley and Stonepark Noel both currently pencilled dup at odds of 33/1.
For those of you interested in some much higher odds, but risky bets, then it could be worth having a few smaller valued bets on greyhound such as Clonbrien Hero and Frisky Luck both at 40/1, or even trying you luck on one of the 50/1 shots who could come up trumps, and two that could be worth a very speculative gamble on are Panther and Blue East.
