It does look like something of a forgone conclusion that Richard Johnson is going to win the National Hunt Jockeys Championship this season, for the best odds you are going to find being offered on him right now to do just that are tiny at just 2/7.
But it is always worth keeping in mind that anything can and often does happen when it comes to horse racing, especially National Hunt racing, and therefore if you do fancy backing any of the other lesser fancied jockeys to be crowned the champion jockey this season then read on.
As far as the next jockey in the betting does, well that jockey is of course the inform Brian Hughes and if thing go his way for the rest of the season there is always the chance he could win the title and by backing him now you should quite easily be able to secure odds of 5/2.
Who Else is in With a Chance?
Whilst there is some big money to be made as a National Hunt jockey, not many jockeys do go on to have massive paydays, but if you fancy backing a couple of jockeys at much higher odds as the ones you do back to win the National Hunt Jockeys Championship this year one of them to consider betting on is Harry Skelton who is a 16/1 shot right now.
Harry Cobden is going to need to win a fair number of races if he is to be in with a chance of winning the title race this season, but anything is of course possible in horse racing, but his current 33/1 may put you off backing him as he only has a tiny chance of success this season based on those high odds.
The Outsiders Not Being Backed
You could fancy any of the outsiders, however they are going to have to pull of some amazing wins this season if they are going to win the title, but some of you are going to be tempted to put a few bob on jockeys such as Sam Twiston-Davies, and with odds on offer on him of 40/1 at least there is always the chance of a big win if he does pull off a miracle this season.
Some other jockeys who certainly know how to ride a winner or two include the likes of Aidan Coleman who looks a fair bet but by now stretch of the imagination a sound bet, betting as his current odds are huge at 66/1.
Then you have a couple of jockeys who are friendless in the betting and not being backed, but can be backed at triple digit odds, and they are Nico De Boinville and Sean Bowen and those odds if you do fancy throwing caution to the wind and those odds are massive right now at 100/1.
Don’t forget that you can also choose to lay your own odds on any jockeys you think have no chance of winning the title race this season, and to do so you will need to get over to a betting exchange such as Betfair.
